| Obverse description | Central field features a vibrantly colored theropod dinosaur — referencing the Fukuiraptor and Fukuisaurus fossil discoveries for which Fukui Prefecture is renowned — depicted in mid-stride facing right against a polychrome background of blue water and white rocky cliffs. The legend 日本国 (Japan) arcs across the upper field in raised Japanese characters, with 福井県 (Fukui Prefecture) and its romanized equivalent FUKUI positioned to the lower right.
