Obverse description Central field features the official emblem of the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympic Games — a stylized five-petalled flower derived from the traditional Korean Taegeuk motif — rendered in bold relief. The legend 'SEOUL '88' appears below the emblem, with the denomination '1000' beneath it in large numerals. A Taegeuk symbol is positioned at the base of the design, flanked on either side by an upswept laurel wreath framing the entire composition. The date '1983' is inscribed across the upper rim in Latin numerals.
