| Obverse description | Central field features the Mongolian national emblem, the Soyombo symbol, rendered in high relief and surrounded by a radiating ornamental border of fine lines. The denomination '1000' appears at the top of the field, flanked by the legend 'MONGOLIA' to the right and the Mongolian script legend to the left. The lower portion of the field carries the inscription '1/10 OZ 9999 GOLD', indicating the coin's gold content and fineness. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |

Part of Mongolia's lunar new year series issued through the mid-1990s, these small gold pieces were produced primarily for the collector export market — Mongolia had no meaningful domestic demand for investment-grade gold coinage at the time. The .999 fineness and 3.11g weight peg it squarely to a tenth-ounce format, designed to compete in the international bullion-gift coin space dominated at the time by Chinese Panda fractions.
Mintages for this series were extremely low and inconsistently documented by the Mongolian State Bank.
