| Obverse description | The central field features the emblem of the Bank of Mongolia: a circular device surmounted by a flaming jewel (soyombo motif), enclosing a yin-yang symbol, with the cursive Cyrillic inscription 'Монгол Банк' (Bank of Mongolia) beneath it and a decorative lotus wreath at the base. Vertical Traditional Mongolian script characters flank the central emblem on either side. The denomination '1000 ТӨГРӨГ' appears in bold characters below the emblem, with the fineness and weight designation '1/25 OZ 999.9 GOLD' inscribed in the lower exergue. The coin's border is defined by a fine toothed inner circle against the reeded edge. |

| Reverse description | The reverse displays a highly detailed, naturalistic depiction of a Gobi Desert scorpion rendered in high relief, shown in profile facing left with its segmented tail arched dramatically overhead and its pedipalp claws extended forward over a rocky desert surface. The curved legend 'WILDLIFE PROTECTION - GOBI DESERT ALIVE' arcs along the upper periphery in incuse Latin lettering. The date '2005' is inscribed at the bottom of the field below the scorpion. The design celebrates the conservation of Mongolian Gobi Desert fauna and is executed with fine engraving detail highlighting the scorpion's exoskeletal segmentation. |
