| Additional information |
The saker falcon holds formal protected status in Mongolia under national law and has been a subject of CITES appendix regulation since the 1970s, primarily due to pressure from Gulf state falconry demand driving illegal trapping across the Central Asian steppe. Mongolia remains one of the last strongholds for wild saker populations, which declined sharply through the 1990s and 2000s before partial recovery under stricter enforcement.
