| Reverse description | A highly detailed, naturalistic depiction of a sable (Martes zibellina) occupies the central field, shown in a three-quarter upright pose atop a tree stump, with coniferous trees rendered in the lower right exergue area. The arc legend 'WILDLIFE PROTECTION 2017' curves along the upper rim, while the binomial scientific name 'MARTES ZIBELLINA' appears in two lines to the right of the animal. The fine engraving captures the sable's fur texture and alert expression with considerable artistic detail. |

Mongolia's sable coinage series targets the bullion collectibles market, but the underlying animal carries real economic history: sable fur drove Russian imperial expansion eastward across Siberia for two centuries, and Mongolian sable remained a prized trade commodity along routes that predated the Silk Road proper. The .9999 fineness places this among the purest gold issues in modern Mongolian numismatics.
