Additional information

Issued to mark the 1993 wedding of Crown Prince Naruhito and Masako Owada, this is one of several commemorative gold issues Mongolia produced throughout the 1990s for foreign markets — pieces never intended for domestic circulation and sold primarily through international coin dealers. Mongolia's mint output during this period was largely driven by hard currency needs following the collapse of Soviet economic support after 1991.

At 31.10 g of .900 gold, the weight aligns precisely with one troy ounce of fine gold content — a deliberate commercial calculation.
