| Obverse description | Central field features the state emblem of Mongolia — the soyombo symbol surmounting a scroll — enclosed within a circular cartouche. The cursive legend 'Монгол Банк' (Bank of Mongolia) arcs across the upper portion of the cartouche, flanked on either side by vertical Mongolian script. A wreath of laurel branches adorns the lower interior of the emblem. Below the cartouche, the denomination '1000 TOGROG' is rendered in large bold numerals with the unit inscription beneath, and the date '2003' appears at the bottom of the coin in the lower field. |

| Additional information |
This piece belongs to Mongolia's long-running commemorative program that, through the 1990s and 2000s, issued themed silver coins largely for the export collector market rather than domestic circulation. The "Hillary" designation almost certainly references Sir Edmund Hillary, whose 1953 Everest summit — shared with Tenzing Norgay — was marked by numerous countries on its 50th anniversary in 2003, Mongolia among them.
KM# 302 is a low-mintage export issue with no meaningful circulation history.
