Obverse description Central vignette presents a portrait of Chinggis Khaan (born Temüjin, c. 1162–1227), founder of the Mongol Empire, rendered in intaglio against a fine guilloche underprint. To one side, a Paiza (Gerege) — the imperial tablet of authority issued to Mongol nobles and envoys, entitling the bearer to demand goods and services from the populace — is illustrated alongside the National Coat of Arms of Mongolia. Denomination numerals and inscriptions appear in both Cyrillic and traditional Mongolian script.

Reverse description The central intaglio vignette illustrates a traditional Mongol nomadic migration scene: a large ger (yurt) mounted on a wheeled ox-cart is drawn across the steppe, accompanied by a herdsman on foot driving a flock of sheep, with additional mounted horsemen and camels visible at right and a settlement of gers receding into the background. A vertical guilloche panel at left bears the «МОНГОЛБАНК» inscription, while the denomination «1000» appears in multicolour numerals at lower left and upper left, and «ТӨГРӨГ» is inscribed in bold Cyrillic lettering along the lower margin beneath the main vignette.
