| Obverse description | Left-facing bust of Kwame Nkrumah, first President of Ghana and pan-African statesman, rendered in high relief with fine sculptural detail showing his characteristic short-cropped hair and a collarless jacket with a decorative pin at the chest. The legend REPUBLIQUE DE GUINEE arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, while the name KWAME NKRUMAH appears in a straight line along the lower field beneath the portrait. The inner border is formed by a continuous band of serrated or sawtooth decoration framing the entire design. |

| Reverse description | Central design features the coat of arms of Guinea: a vertically lined shield bearing a striding elephant, surmounted by a dove in flight carrying an olive branch, with ornate foliate supporters on either side. Three scroll banners display the national motto TRAVAIL, JUSTICE, and SOLIDARITE. The date 1977 appears in the field below the shield, with the denomination 1000 SYLIS inscribed in two lines in the lower field. The CHI mint mark of Valcambi SA appears to the right of the shield. The design is framed by the same sawtooth inner border as the obverse. |
