| Additional information |
Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 but remains unrecognized by any sovereign state or international body. Its coins are legal tender domestically in a purely technical sense, but the primary market has always been foreign collectors — the Bank of Somaliland understood this from the outset and issued commemoratives accordingly. The Chinese zodiac series, of which this is a part, had no organic connection to Somaliland's culture or history.
KM#20 is a bullion-adjacent novelty issue rather than a circulating coin by any practical measure.
