| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Uganda is depicted centrally, featuring a shield supported by a kob antelope to the left and a grey crowned crane to the right, with a sun motif at the centre of the shield and a representation of the River Nile at the base. The legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 SHILLINGS curves along the lower periphery.
