Obverse description The central field displays the full coat of arms of Uganda, featuring a shield supported by a kob antelope to the left and a grey crowned crane to the right, both standing atop a grassy mound with the national motto scroll reading FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY at the base. Two crossed spears appear behind the shield. The legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper rim, while 1000 SHILLINGS is inscribed along the lower rim. The date 1999 is divided across the left and right fields flanking the arms. A beaded border runs along the inner edge of the coin.
