Additional information

Uganda's wildlife coin program of the early 2000s targeted the international collector market rather than domestic circulation — these pieces were never intended to pass through Kampala market stalls. The Cape buffalo, one of the "Big Five," was a natural choice for a series aimed at overseas buyers, and the 1000-shilling denomination was largely nominal.

KM#79 turns up frequently in bulk lots from that era, suggesting significant quantities reached distributors rather than individual collectors.
