| Obverse description | The obverse displays the coat of arms of Uganda centrally in the field, featuring a shield supported by a Uganda kob (antelope) to the left and a grey crowned crane to the right, with a drum and the national motto ribbon reading 'FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY' at the base. The date is divided as '19' and '99' flanking the shield at mid-field. The circular legend 'BANK OF UGANDA' arcs along the upper periphery, while '1000 SHILLINGS' is inscribed along the lower periphery. The coin exhibits a reeded border with a beaded inner ring framing the entire design. |

| Additional information |
A novelty "coin-on-coin" issue from Uganda, this piece was part of a wave of late-1990s collector tokens from smaller central banks that embedded or affixed actual foreign circulation coins as the central element. The attached piece is a genuine Euro cent struck in anticipation of the Eurozone launch — produced before the euro had legal tender status anywhere, making the embedded coin itself a pre-circulation specimen. Germany's euro coinage was struck from 1999 onward for collector sets well ahead of the January 2002 public introduction.
