Reverse description The reverse features a schematic outline map of Europe overlaid with a geographic grid, set within a border of twelve five-pointed stars along the lower periphery. Two appliqued facsimile coins of the Belgian 1 Euro issue are affixed to the field: the upper coin displays the reverse of the 1 Euro coin bearing the denomination and the word EURO, while the lower coin shows the obverse with a portrait of King Albert II of Belgium. The legend THE NEW EUROPEAN CURRENCY arcs around the upper periphery, and the inscriptions 1 EURO, A II, and 2002 appear in relation to the appliqued coin elements.
