| Reverse description | The reverse presents a devotional depiction of the Zhyrovichy Icon of the Mother of God (Theotokos), rendered in the traditional Byzantine iconographic style against a dark polished field. The Virgin Mary is shown in a three-quarter bust facing slightly right, wearing a maphorion and tenderly holding the Christ Child, who is dressed in robes and nestled against her left side. Cyrillic monograms IC XC (Jesus Christ) and MP ΘY (Mother of God) flank the respective figures in the upper field. Four stylized winged angels appear at the corners of the rectangular field, framing the central oval icon. The inscription ЖЫРОВІЦКАЯ is inscribed on a tablet at the lower center, identifying the icon's origin. |
