Transnistria's banknote series of the early 1990s emerged directly from the breakaway republic's 1990 declaration of independence from Moldova — a territory that had no internationally recognized status and no access to standard banking infrastructure. The 1994 dated issues replaced emergency coupon money that had circulated since 1992, when the brief but bloody war with Moldovan forces ended in a Russian-brokered ceasefire.

The "Printed: 30.04.1945" field almost certainly refers to a plate date or archival reference inherited from Soviet-era printing stock, not the actual production date of this note — a recurring source of confusion in catalog records for this series.
