Comments

The 1000 Rial note was the highest denomination in regular circulation for much of the Shah's final decade, and by the late 1970s it was also the denomination most visibly affected by the revolution. When mass street protests escalated in 1978, striking workers at Bank Markazi joined the broader labor action — disrupting distribution of newly printed stock already delivered from De La Rue's Goring-by-Sea facility.

Four signature combinations exist across the 1974–1979 run, reflecting the rapid turnover of senior Bank Markazi officials in the political turbulence preceding the Shah's departure in January 1979. Khoshkish and Yeganeh signed the latest issues.
