Obverse description The obverse carries the issuing bank seal at right and the arms of Portugal at upper right, printed in black. A bold black letterpress overprint reading 'Emissão Chamiço' is applied across the face of the underlying P#4b note. The overall layout retains the original intaglio-printed text and guilloche underprint of the base note.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in green and centres on an oval intaglio vignette of a seated allegorical female figure, rendered in fine line engraving and encircled by the bank's name in curved lettering. The denomination '1000' appears in large numerals at both the left and right margins, flanked by intricate guilloche rosettes and geometric lathe-work. At the top, a rectangular panel carries the branch inscription, while the printer's imprint of Bradbury Wilkinson & Co. appears along the lower edge.
Reverse lettering PAGAVEL NA FILIAL EM S. THIAGO BANCO NACIONAL ULTRAMARINO
(Translation: Payable in agency of St. Thiago National Bank Overseas)
