| Obverse description | Conjoined busts of Dom Pedro I and Epitácio Pessoa facing right, rendered in high relief against a plain field. The name D. PEDRO I is inscribed to the left of the effigies, and EPITACIO PESSOA to the right. The surrounding legend reads ACCLAM. DA INDEPENDENCIA at the upper left and X. PRESID. DA REPUBLICA at the upper right, separated by a cluster of three stars. The issuer name BRASIL (erroneously rendered as BBRASIL on the KM#522.2 error variety, as visible on this example) appears in the lower field below the busts, with a beaded border encircling the entire design. |
