| Obverse description | Full-length figure of a Portuguese colonist or nobleman in Renaissance-era dress, standing facing, slightly to the right, occupying the central field of the coin. The figure is rendered in high relief with fine detailing of period costume including a ruffled collar, doublet, and breeches. The commemorative legend is distributed across the field in two columns flanking the figure, reading upward on both sides, with the dual dates 1532 and 1932 placed in the lower field to the left and right respectively, marking the four-hundredth anniversary of Brazil's colonization. The engraver's initial appears in the lower right field. |
