| Reverse description | A faithful and enlarged recreation of William Wyon's celebrated Gothic Crown portrait of Queen Victoria, originally engraved in 1847, depicting the young queen in left-facing profile bust wearing an ornate Gothic crown and richly embroidered robes decorated with Tudor roses and trefoils. The draped bust is rendered with exceptional sculptural detail, including a braided coiffure and an elaborately jewelled crown with fleur-de-lis and Gothic arch motifs. The circular Latin legend VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIAR : REG : F : D runs around the inner field, framed by an ornamental border of alternating trefoils and beading. The engraver's initials W.W. appear at the lower left of the field. |
