| Obverse description | The Philippine national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield quartered with the emblems of Manila, Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, surmounted by a solar ray motif and flanked by two stars at the upper angles. The shield is rendered in high relief against a polished field. The circular legend 'REPUBLIKA NG PILIPINAS' arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination '1000 PISO' is inscribed along the lower periphery, each separated by five-pointed stars. |

The 1994 issue commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Leyte Gulf landings of October 1944 — the largest naval battle in history by number of vessels involved, and the engagement that effectively destroyed the Imperial Japanese Navy as a fighting force. General MacArthur's wading ashore at Red Beach fulfilled his 1942 "I shall return" pledge made upon evacuation from Corregidor.
Struck in a single year with limited distribution through BSP channels, these pieces saw virtually no circulation.
