| Obverse description | Executed in predominant green and light brown tones, the obverse centres on an intaglio portrait vignette of Uruguayan poet Juana de Ibarbourou set against a fine guilloche underprint. Two serial number fields appear in contrasting orientations — vertical in red at upper left and horizontal in black at lower right — while a metallic security band traverses the note carrying a latent image of the national coat of arms. Tactile intaglio ridges for the visually impaired run along both lateral edges, and an outline map of Uruguay at upper right bears a latent «BCU» image, with a partial split-fountain numeral «1000» at upper left designed to register with its complement on the reverse. |

| Reverse description | The reverse continues the green and light brown palette, centring on a vignette of a bookshelf bearing titles of works by Juana de Ibarbourou, accompanied by a palm tree motif beneath a ribbon inscribed «LA PALMA DE JUANA». A stanza from Ibarbourou's poetry is reproduced in full with an attribution line reading «Juana de Ibarbourou — Montevideo, Setiembre 8 1924», while the printer's imprint «OBERTHUR FIDUCIAIRE» and the word «URUGUAY» are printed vertically at the right margin.
