Obverse description The Mexican national coat of arms dominates the central field, depicting a Mexican golden eagle perched upon a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop, grasping a serpent in its beak and talons. The eagle is rendered in fine detail with outstretched wings, facing left in the traditional heraldic pose. A wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the base of the central device. The legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS curves along the upper periphery in raised Latin lettering, with a beaded border encircling the entire design.
