| Obverse description | Left-facing effigy of King Juan Carlos I of Spain, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and facial features, occupying the central field. The circumferential legend reads JUAN CARLOS I REY DE ESPAÑA, distributed along the upper and lower periphery of the obverse, with the date 1999 flanked by two raised dots positioned at the base of the design. The portrait is unadorned and contemporarily styled, consistent with the standard coinage effigies of the Spanish monarchy of this period. The engraving is attributed to Manuel Martinez Tornero. |

| Reverse description | Dynamic depiction of two water polo players in close competition before a goal net, rendered in bold relief against a mirror-finished field. One player, wearing a cap, rises above the water in a striking posture while the second player below grasps the ball, with stylized wave motifs indicated at the lower field. The denomination 1000 PTAS appears in large characters along the upper left arc, with the inscription JUEGOS OLIMPICOS 2000 arranged in three lines to the right of the central design. The crowned M mintmark of the Real Casa de la Moneda, Madrid, appears in the lower right field. The composition commemorates the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and is attributed to engraver Esther González Pastor. |
