Obverse description Central field displays the national arms of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, comprising two crossed Kalashnikov rifles surmounted by a crescent and five-pointed star, flanked by olive branches, with a scroll bearing an Arabic legend at the base. The bilingual legend 'REPUBLICA SAHARAUI' in Latin script arcs along the upper periphery, with the Arabic equivalent 'الجمهورية الصحراوية' continuing around the upper right. The denomination '1000' and the currency name in Arabic 'بسيطة صحراوية' appear along the lower field, with the motto 'حرية ديمقراطية وحدة' (Freedom, Democracy, Unity) completing the lower legend.
