Obverse description A finely engraved intaglio portrait of King Ferdinand III of Castile (San Fernando) is positioned to the right of centre against an intricate guilloche underprint, while a vignette of the Cathedral of Seville occupies the left field. The principal obligation inscription reads PAGARÁ AL PORTADOR MIL PESETAS, with the place and date MADRID, 15 DE AGOSTO DE 1928 printed below. Three manuscript signatures of the Governor, Auditor, and Cashier appear along the lower margin.

Reverse description The central field of the reverse carries a detailed intaglio reproduction of Alejandro Ferrant y Fischermans's painting "Last Communion of St. Ferdinand", enclosed within a decorative engraved border. The composition is rendered with fine crosshatching characteristic of recess printing, conveying the solemnity of the religious scene. Panel inscriptions in bold letterpress identify the issuing institution and denomination.
