| Obverse description | Central view of the iconic façade of the Ruins of St. Paul's Church rendered in high relief against a mirror-like proof field. The architectural detail of the stone baroque frontispiece is depicted with great precision, flanked by a ring of thirteen small five-pointed stars encircling the design. The legend MACAU arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 2000 is inscribed in the lower field beneath the church façade, divided by the base of the structure. |

| Reverse description | A finely detailed Chinese dragon, shown in dynamic profile moving to the left, occupies the central field with its sinuous scaled body, clawed feet, and elaborately rendered head with open mouth and flowing whiskers. The dragon is depicted against a polished proof field with fine beaded inner border. To the left, a vertical column of Chinese characters reads 壹仟 (one thousand), and to the right, the characters 澳門 (Macau) are similarly arranged vertically, flanking the dragon. Along the lower arc, the denomination 1000 PATACAS is inscribed in bold Latin letters within the exergue. |
