Additional information

Mozambique's Olympic commemorative program in the late 1990s was largely export-driven — these pieces were produced for the collector market through foreign minting arrangements rather than any domestic ceremonial purpose. The Sydney 2000 Games gave peripheral issuing nations a reliable revenue mechanism, and Mozambique was one of dozens that licensed the Olympic rings for silver proof issues with negligible local distribution.

KM#128 is frequently encountered in original packaging with no signs of handling, consistent with coins that never meaningfully entered the country whose name they bear.
