| Obverse description | Printed in dark brownish-red on a pale green guilloche underprint, the obverse is dominated by a large central vignette in Blackletter script reading 'Tausend Mark', flanked on both sides by the numeral '1000' in bold letterpress. The issuer's title 'Aushilfsschein der Freien und Hansestadt Hamburg' runs across the top in Gothic script, with the date 'Hamburg, den 1. Jan. 1923' and two manuscript signatures below, accompanied by a circular official seal of the Finanzdeputation Hamburg at centre. A serial number in red appears at the upper right, and an ornamental border of interlaced guilloche patterns frames the entire design. |
