| Obverse description | Tan-toned notgeld on a fine guilloche underprint ground. The heading 'STADT CREFELD' is set in large display lettering across the top, below which a decorative cartouche with scrolled borders frames the denomination 'EINTAUSEND' in bold Gothic blackletter. The body text in cursive script states the redemption obligation of the Stadthauptkasse Crefeld within one month of public call, dated 'Crefeld, den 6. November 1922', with the legend 'Der Oberbürgermeister' above the facsimile signature. Series letter 'REIHE L' appears at lower left, the serial number at lower right, and the printer's imprint 'WORMS & LÜTHGEN, CREFELD' at the extreme lower right margin. |

A central circular vignette contains the heraldic figure of Saint Dionysius, patron saint of Crefeld, robed and holding a bishop's crozier in his left hand and his severed head — shown as a mitre-crowned bust — raised aloft in his right hand, consistent with the city's traditional coat of arms; a mural crown surmounts the composition at top. The numeral '1000' appears in bold digits to the left of the vignette and 'MARK' to the right. Along the lower margin runs the authorization legend 'AUSGEGEBEN MIT GENEHMIGUNG DES REICHSFINANZMINISTERIUMS.' |
