Reverse description A highly detailed relief depicts a gray monitor lizard (Varanus griseus), known locally as Zemzen, shown in a naturalistic lateral pose traversing the central field. The lizard's scaled texture is rendered with fine craftsmanship, its long tapering tail extending to the left. Surrounding the reptile are stylised desert flora including sparse shrubs and plants, evoking its arid Central Asian habitat. The denomination 1000 manat appears in the lower left field in small Latin characters. The name ZEMZEN is inscribed in bold Latin lettering along the upper rim.
