Obverse description Royal coat of arms of the Kingdom of Italy, supported by two lions, occupies the upper centre, flanked by encircled denomination numerals '1000' at upper left and right, all joined by an intricate floral and foliate guilloche border. At lower centre, a legal text cartouche is framed by two reclining putti — the left holding a sheaf of wheat and the right a vine branch with grapes, symbolising agriculture — while at the left margin stands a female allegory of Geometry holding a compass, attended by a seated putto with an anchor beside a barrel and parcel representing Commerce, and at the right margin a female allegory of Geography holds a terrestrial globe beside a child with a drawing pad and sculptural instruments representing the Visual Arts. A light green underprint of the denomination '1000' appears in transparency behind the central text, with a boat vignette at lower left and a locomotive at lower right, the entire design executed in dark grey intaglio; the left border carries a matrix strip inscribed 'Regno d'Italia', with series letter 'S', fractional number, and serial number at upper left and upper right.
