Obverse description The Bulgarian state coat of arms — a crowned lion rampant flanked by two supporting lions within an ornate shield — appears as a vignette at left, set against dense guilloche underprint work in green and ochre tones. The denomination "ХИЛЯДА ЛЕВА ЗЛАТНИ" (One Thousand Leva Gold) is rendered in large bold Cyrillic letterpress across the centre, above the issuing authority legend of the Bulgarian National Bank and the bearer payment clause. Two signature lines for the Governor (Управитель) and Cashier (Касиерд) appear in the lower centre, with a circular red bank seal to the right and the alphanumeric serial number printed twice in red.
