| Obverse description | The Zambian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield supported by a man in traditional dress at left and a woman in traditional dress at right, with a fish eagle displayed above and a scroll bearing the motto ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION at the base. The issue date 1998 is split by the arms, with '19' to the left and '98' to the right. The legend BANK OF ZAMBIA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 KWACHA is inscribed in large characters along the lower periphery. The design is rendered in sharp relief against a polished mirror field, giving a proof-like appearance. |
