| Obverse description | Central field bears the Zambian national arms, depicting a shield supported by a man in traditional dress at left and a woman at right, with a fish eagle displayed above crossed pick and hoe, and a scroll below inscribed ONE ZAMBIA ONE NATION. The date 1998 is split to either side of the arms in the mid-field. The issuer legend BANK OF ZAMBIA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1000 KWACHA is inscribed in large block letters along the lower periphery. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
