Obverse description The obverse features the coat of arms of Zambia prominently centered in the field, depicting two human supporters flanking a shield decorated with a representation of Victoria Falls, surmounted by an African fish eagle with wings spread. A banner at the base bears the national motto. The legend BANK OF ZAMBIA arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin lettering, with the date 19 99 divided on either side of the central device. The denomination 1000 KWACHA is inscribed along the lower border.
