Additional information

Andrija Mohorovičić discovered the boundary between Earth's crust and mantle in 1909 by analyzing seismic wave data from a Croatian earthquake — the discontinuity still bears his name. This issue was struck to mark the centenary of that finding, one of the few genuinely foundational discoveries in geophysics ever commemorated on a national coin.
