Ib Andersen was primarily a graphic artist and illustrator — not a traditional banknote engraver — and his involvement in designing this series gave the 1972 Danish notes an unusually painterly quality that set them apart from most European currency of the period. Danmarks Nationalbank printed the entire run in-house at its Copenhagen works, which had operated continuously since 1818 and maintained full production independence unusual among central banks of comparable size.

The nine distinct signature combinations across a twenty-year print run reflect routine personnel turnover at the Nationalbank, not reissues triggered by policy changes. Collectors tracking signature pairs should note that the 1977 Hoffmeyer & Valeur variant is the harder find.
