| Obverse description | The face of this payment obligation carries a bust-length intaglio vignette of a worker set within an oval frame at left, accompanied by the denomination '1000 РУБЛЕЙ ЗОЛОТОМ' in a decorative cartouche at upper left and the Soviet state arms at upper right. The body of the note is occupied by dense Cyrillic letterpress text constituting the formal payment obligation of the Central Cash Office of the People's Commissariat of Finance, issued 1 December 1923 with maturity 1 March 1924 and bearing 6% annual interest. Four signature lines appear at the foot, assigned respectively to the People's Commissar of Finance, the Head of the State Administration, the Head of the Currency Administration, and the Manager of the Central Cash Office. |
