| Reverse description | The reverse presents an elaborate shield-and-cartouche composition divided into five panels, each containing a high-relief depiction of one of the African Big Five animals: lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo. A central elongated cartouche bearing the inscribed letters BG 5 unites the composition, surrounded by intricate engraved knotwork and foliate borders that extend across the curved surface of the sphere. The year 2019 appears in the lower exergual area. The antique silver finish accentuates the deeply sculpted relief and fine decorative detail throughout. |
