Niger's wildlife coinage program of the early 2010s was issued under license through European distributors — these pieces were never intended for domestic circulation and saw no use within Niger itself. The side-striped jackal, Lupulella adusta, is the least studied of the African jackals, historically overlooked in favor of its black-backed cousin.
