Comments

The Banque de la Réunion et de Mayotte is not a central bank in any official sense — it is a private commemorative and fantasy note issuer, producing limited-edition paper pieces that circulate among collectors rather than in trade. This note is not legal tender in either Réunion or Mayotte, both of which use the Euro through standard French monetary arrangements. The "1000 Francs" denomination references the old CFA franc and its predecessor currencies, none of which were ever issued by an entity of this name.

Franck Medina is a Réunion-based graphic designer whose work on this series is print-on-demand in character. The watermark feature, modest by any measure, is the most security-conscious element of what is essentially a novelty item.
