Obverse description Central field features a stylized bust of a young African woman in three-quarter view, her elaborately braided hair rendered in fine relief, her hand raised to her chin in a contemplative pose. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU TCHAD arcs along the upper periphery, while the national motto UNITE · TRAVAIL · PROGRES curves within an inner border in the upper field. The denomination 1000 FRANCS is inscribed in bold lettering along the lower rim. The design is executed in a clean, modernist style with a highly polished mirror proof field.

Additional information

Chad's wildlife coin program of the early 2000s was produced almost entirely for the collector export market — the country had no meaningful domestic coin circulation, operating effectively on CFA franc notes through the BEAC. These issues were struck under licensing arrangements common to small francophone African nations, with minting contracted to European facilities rather than any Chadian infrastructure.

KM#26 is among the lower-mintage pieces from that program, though precise figures remain elusive in the standard references.
