Additional information

The Cross River gorilla (Gorilla gorilla diehli) is restricted to a handful of forest patches straddling the Nigeria-Cameroon border, with total wild population estimates rarely exceeding 300 individuals. Cameroon has issued conservation-themed coinage under agreements with the Mint of Poland, which struck the bulk of this wildlife series. The KM#63 is part of that program.

Mintages for these issues were typically capped at 2,500 pieces globally — not by law, but by commercial agreement with the issuing distributor.
