| Obverse description | Central field features the national coat of arms of the Republic of Congo, depicting a shield charged with a lion passant, supported by two African elephants on either side, surmounted by a mural crown. A ribbon below the shield bears the national motto in three parts: UNITE, TRAVAIL, and PROGRES. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DU CONGO arcs along the upper periphery in large Latin letters, while the denomination 1000 FRANCS CFA is prominently inscribed across the lower field. |

| Additional information |
The Republic of the Congo — not to be confused with the neighboring Democratic Republic of the Congo — has issued a steady stream of lunar calendar commemoratives through third-party minting arrangements, effectively licensing its sovereign authority to produce coins with no domestic circulation function whatsoever. This piece was struck for the collector market, almost certainly by a European or Asian contract mint, and will never have touched Congolese soil.
