Benin's franc CFA coinage has no organic relationship to Viking-age Scandinavia — these are collector issues produced under licensing arrangements that allow small African nations to generate revenue by striking themed bullion and numismatic pieces for the European and North American hobby market. The actual issuing authority is typically a European distributor working through Benin's nominal mint authorization.
