The Little Muck — known in German as "Der kleine Muck" — is a short story published by Wilhelm Hauff in 1826 as part of his first story almanac, framed within a larger tale cycle modeled loosely on One Thousand and One Nights. Hauff died the following year at twenty-four, and his fairy tales gained much of their posthumous popularity through East German state publishing, which issued millions of illustrated editions throughout the mid-twentieth century.
Burkina Faso's BCEAO-affiliated mint program has issued numerous literary and fairy-tale themed coins of this format since the early 2010s, typically distributed through European numismatic wholesalers rather than domestic circulation.
